Marco Island OVER VIEW

Let Chris explain where Marco Island is in the South West Florida metropolitan area. As you start on the Interstate at exit 101, Collier Blvd, you are traveling South on the long land bridge to Marco. This exit 101 is the last exit in Naples, before going through the toll gate entrance to Florida Alligator Alley. This is the Southern most exit for Naples.

Marco Island, the jewel on the Gulf, is in Southern Collier County, Florida. (the two counties making up South West Florida metropolitan area are Lee on the North and Collier on the South). It is the largest Barrier Island within Southwest Florida’s Ten Thousand Islands extending from Marco Island to Cape Sable.

It is well known for its high quality of life, natural resources, casual atmosphere, and friendly people. Chris and Deane go to Marco regularly for all the relaxing dining venues. Deane calls it the Big, Little Island since she often gets lost. It has movies, boating, fishing, shelling, bicycling, golf, swimming, airboats, sightseeing, restaurants, shopping and the beaches.

The general Marco Island metro area, also includes some very important neigborhoods that are out laying from the Island proper. On the long south bound land bridge (Collier Blvd route 951) connecting Naples to North Marco, there are the following villages: the Rookery at Marco, Fiddlers Creek, and Tarpon Bay. Then on the long south bound land bridge (Sand Marco Rd route 92) connecting Seminole Park on Tamiami Trail to South Marco, there are the following villages: Goodland.

Marco has many condominiums and many detached homes. But unlike Naples there are not many gated communities. Marco also has many former Motels which have been converted to one bedroom condominium apartments, making some very nice waterfront homes available at affordable prices.
