Everglades City OVER VIEW

Let Chris explain where Everglades City is in the South West Florida metropolitan area. As you start on the Interstate at exit 101, Collier Blvd, you are traveling South on the long land bridge to Marco. This exit 101 is the last exit in Naples, before going through the toll gate entrance to Florida Alligator Alley. This is the Southern most exit for Naples.

Traveling South on Collier Blvd, Route 951, you will come to the famous Tamiami Trail, US route 41. Continuing South will take you to Marco Island. You will not continue South, but will turn left to the East. You are now on the way to the Seminole Park and to Everglades City and to Chokoloskee.

Everglades City, gateway to the Ten Thousand Islands, is in Southern Collier County, Florida. (the two counties making up South West Florida metropolitan area are Lee on the North and Collier on the South). It is the beginning of the 99-mile Wilderness Waterway known as The Ten Thousand Islands. A chain of hundreds of islands and mangrove islets, running from Everglades City to Flamingo City in Monroe County. Most of the residents of Everglades City earn a living in one way or another from this 99-mile waterway. (see map bottom)

Everglades City is a mile long mangrove island with crab houses, shops, restaurants, motels, marinas, museums, airport, canoe and kayak guided adventures, airplane tours, boat tours, airboat rides, canoe/kayak/bicycle rentals. There are many and nice walking and biking paths, areas for rollerblade and rollerskate, play basketball and tennis, watch the sunset, and watch the unique birds and fish. Minutes away by powerboat, you can visit secluded beachs and mangrove tunnels. Spend the day canoeing, kayaking, biking, or hiking in the Everglades National Park or surrounding areas.
