Estero OVER VIEW

Let Chris explain where Estero is in the South West Florida metropolitan area. As you move south on the Interstate, South of the Caloosahatchee (pronounced "ka-LOOSE-a-HAT-chee" River bridge (Pineland Road exit), and South past Fort Myers, then a bit farther South past the Lehigh Acres area, and you are in the Estero area, just before you enter into the Bonita Springs and Bonita Beach area and on to the Naples area.

Estero is in Lee County. The heart of Estero is the spring-fed Estero River, which flows to Estero Bay. It is the home of Germain Arena, Southwest Florida' only large venue, which hosts the Florida Everblades hockey team and the Florida Firecats arena football team.

The Estero River is a small fresh water river flowing to Estero Bay, a protected aquatic preserve. Its banks are heavy with native trees and vegatation. Egrets, herons, roseate spoonbills, and fish. In spring mating season the male spoonbills show their pretty pink feathers.

Estero was established by Dr. Cyrus Reed Teed, who proposed a theory of that we live on the inside of the Earth's outer skin, and that celestial bodies are all contained inside the hollow Earth. This theory was called Koreshan Unity, and its followers founded a small commune which became Estero. The Koreshans' original tract is now owned by Florida as the Koreshan State Park.

Estero has many championship golf courses, parks, tennis and swimming facilities and there is easy access to the all the bays and waterways so it is a boating and fishing paradise. Their are many shopping venues, especially the grand new Coconut Point Shopping village.
