You should look at each home for its individual characteristics You should buy a home you want to live in. My wife will not live in an olderhome. We have in the past. But now,we prefer a newer home.  

Older homes are in more established neighborhoods, offering matured services, landscaping, roads, but with more needed repairs.Newer homes have more modern architecture  and systems,  are  easier to maintain,  and may be  more energy efficient.  But trees have yet to grow, roads and stores have yet to be built.

                    How Long a WAITING PERIOD?

The older home is usually ready to go,  when you need it.  We had an accepted offer in December, closed in March,  moved into the home in April. A new home under construction may  be a few months until completion. Building a home from scratch is always over a year in Southwest Florida.

When financing a home, there is time required,  but Chris can have much of this work done before you make the offer. Then beyond financing, inspection work takes time. For us this was about a month.
